Maths Week 5 Term 3 2021

This week one thing we have been  learning in maths is how to write expanded numbers. Another way of

saying this is ‘expanded form’ or ‘expanded notation’. They all mean the same thing. It’s like you have to

break the numbers up into their place value parts and then put + symbols in between them. Example:

7239 =7000+200+30+9. We have also been learning how to solve problems that have more than one answer.

Wednesday maths

This week we began our online learning. For maths we have been solving problems.
We have had to use facts we know to help us. Here is one of my problems I have solved.

Legs on a walk
Hannah was going on a walk on the farm.
When she got home, she told her brother that she saw 38 legs.
If the animals that Hannah saw included ducks (2 legs),
piglets (4 legs), and spiders (8 legs), what might Hannah have seen
on her walk?
Solve this problem using the best strategy.
